Positive Aspects

1. Flagship-Class CPU & Graphics Performance

The Exynos 990 integrates a powerful octa-core CPU with dual Exynos M5 and Cortex-A76 performance cores, supported by four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, offering robust performance for flagship devices of its generation. The Mali-G77 MP11 GPU delivers capable graphics performance in gaming and multimedia, often outperforming contemporaries in memory bandwidth.

2. Advanced Multimedia Support

The chipset supports up to 8K @30 FPS video capture and playback along with high-resolution camera sensors (up to 108 MP), which enables rich multimedia experiences for photography and video — an advantage for premium smartphones.

3. Modern Memory & Connectivity

With support for LPDDR5 memory at high bandwidth and integrated 5G connectivity via the Exynos Modem 5123, the Exynos 990 provides fast data throughput, responsive multitasking, and future-proof wireless performance in flagship devices.

Negative Aspects

1. Older Process Node & Efficiency

Built on a 7 nm process, the Exynos 990 is less power-efficient compared to later 5 nm and 4 nm generation chips, resulting in higher power consumption under sustained workloads compared to newer SoCs.

2. GPU Performance Limits

While the Mali-G77 MP11 was advanced at launch, it can lag behind more recent GPU architectures in sustained high-end gaming and graphics performance, particularly against newer Adreno and RDNA-based GPUs.

Device information for this processor will be available soon. We are working on collecting data about smartphones and tablets that use the Samsung Exynos 990.
